An Eerie Thanksgiving

America is entering the worst phase of the Sars-CoV-2 pandemic. Ironically, it may be our obsession with individual ‘freedom’ that empowers both the intrepid entrepreneur’s willingness to take risks beyond the comfort zone of one’s family and friends AND the virulent spread of the virus itself. Freedom is always a double-edged sword. Most founders I know are being very careful with their teams and customer/consumer interactions.

But, let this Thanksgiving be a reminder that our free society has to limit what freedom really means. We can’t take the freedom to extremes of social disregard. Not even in the pursuit of pleasing the consumers who buy our products.

We should be thankful for the ability to pursue our entrepreneurial dreams at the same time we self-police for the greater good of others, especially strangers the virus connects us to unwittingly.
